En México, se celebra el 28 de agosto.
The main character in the history of this day is Marian Lucille Herndon McQuade, mother of 15 kids and granny to 40. Since she was a little girl, she developed an interest in the elderly. This was originated by the strong relationship she had with her grandmother who she often visited. She used to listen to the elderly’s stories, visit them, and taking whatever advice he could from them. After this, she started a campaign to get people to celebrate grandparent’s day. This way in 1973, West Virgina celebrated its first Grandparents Day and afterwards in 1978, the US congress approved that it should be stipulated that the first Sunday after Labor Day be Grandparents’ Day.
In México, it is celebrated on August 28.
